WHY DO YOU LIKE AND COLLECT MATCHES?
I think having matches around the house is always a good idea. Whether you’re lighting a candle for guests coming over, or simply need to strike one up after one does one’s business… it’s always a good idea. And beyond being pretty, the matches themselves become a moment captured in time. There is usually a memory or feeling tied to the place from where your match came.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE ONES AND WHY?
I love the @dirtyfrenchnyc matches from NYC, as I am a New Yorker born and raised, so it captures that nostalgia for me. On the flip side, I love the @james_beach matches, partly because of the simplicity in design of BEACH printed on one of the sides, but also the contrast of California to NYC.
WHEN AND HOW DO YOU LIKE TO ENJOY YOUR MATCHES?
I think lighting a candle with one of my matches is a satisfying feeling. First the strike of the match, but then that instant calm that sets in as soon as you use the match to light your favorite candle. The combination in smells of a good scent and freshly lit match is perfection.
