WHY DO YOU LIKE AND COLLECT MATCHES?
Something about the boxes and the graphic design of the time or place they represent is really sentimental to me. It could be historic or not. It could just be a reference to the existence of a restaurant, car shop, magazine…anything. I like that they are physical reference points.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE ONES AND WHY?
My favorite one I own is a vintage Marlboro one that has neon cigarette letters. It reminds me of my dad. He’s been a smoker ever since I was a child and he only smoked Marlboros. I also love the vintage Playboy one—cause it's just sexy. I also have one I bought from a Japanese shop in Dumbo with two birds on it. The illustration is a favorite of mine.
WHEN AND HOW DO YOU LIKE TO ENJOY YOUR MATCHES?
We keep them on our table to light candles, or in the bathroom just for decoration. I am also a weed smoker so...they come in handy for that.
