WHY DO YOU LIKE AND COLLECT MATCHES?
I collect matches because they are design objects! They are such a great expression of branding. I love seeing what a designer did to make them special & unique.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE ONES AND WHY?
My favorites sentimentally are from great places I’ve visited or great meals I’ve had. I usually love quirky older matchbooks from a red sauce Italian restaurant or from a funky old hotel more then a brand new restaurant. But…that being sad, my current faves are @primosnyc and @lecoucou_nyc. Also love these ZAN! Ones my mom made for me for my 30th birthday a few years ago.
WHEN AND HOW DO YOU LIKE TO ENJOY YOUR MATCHES?
Obviously I like to use matches too..they can’t be too perfect! We burn incense and candles so I have them scattered all over the apartment. Oh, and I also love some of the matches I’ve designed. Like the @mermaid_ranch ones that have a pattern on the inside and say “just the tip” or the @flamingo_estate ones, both for @chandeliercreative.
