WHY DO YOU LIKE AND COLLECT MATCHES?
I love to collect matches for mainly the design and rarity of having them. As someone who studied graphic design, I appreciate all the work that goes into them and the uniqueness each can have depending on the place it comes from. On top of all that, it’s a free souvenir and the only way to get one is to physically be there or someone has to get it for you, so it can make it difficult to get and not many people will have the same ones as you.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE ONES AND WHY?
The favorite ones are always changing but as of now would be #1 @mrchow because of how iconic it is and all the different major artists who contributed to the matchbox. #2 @thefrankieshop because of the cigarette pack it looks like it is just simply cool and #3 @thegallerymiami is from a recent trip to Miami. I came across this place with friends and it had such a cool atmosphere and when I saw the matches they had for guests, they just stood out more than anything else.
WHEN AND HOW DO YOU LIKE TO ENJOY YOUR MATCHES?
I do not like to use the matches as these are my keepsakes and for memory only. I have them displayed in large vases and placed them around the house but now starting to just put them in one large vase to hopefully fill sooner than later. These are definitely always a conversation starter and people always ask if I have any new ones every time they see me.
