WHY DO YOU LIKE AND COLLECT MATCHES?
Matchbooks remind of a time during which restaurants had smoking sections. They're a glistening little something that you find, like a hard candy, in the velvet-lined pocket of a jacket. They're tangible representations of memories, and going out to drinks and dinner is one of my all time favorite activities. It's a way to collect experiences—little presents that represent travel and candle-lit evenings with people who I treasure. I also love that they're essentially little free merch accessories from beloved places that I want to keep with me.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE ONES AND WHY?
@rosewoodthecarlyle, because I love Earl, the pianist in residence, the gold-washed, hand illustrated wallpaper, and my memories at the hotel. @sunset_tower because it reminds me of so many incredible warm LA oyster and cocktail-soaked evenings. @balthazarny because when I lived in New York, that was one of my favorite go-to's, and because I love a great leather booth, and they do it perfectly. @gucci because I'm obsessed with Gucci (especially Tom Ford era) and Harry Styles.
WHEN AND HOW DO YOU LIKE TO ENJOY YOUR MATCHES?
I really like finding them in my handbags—it's always transportive. I tend to not really use the special matches. They're just there, sitting in a tray on my coffee table, to spark and ignite moments of happiness. I reserve the hard work of candle lighting to a good old Bic.
