WHY DO YOU LIKE AND COLLECT MATCHES?
I love matches because they act as a little memory of places I’ve been. Gift giving is my love language, and I always really enjoy bringing friends back matches from places I’ve traveled. Especially if it’s a hotel or restaurant I think they would have loved. Matches are special because they’re a utilitarian object. I hate clutter, but matches always serve a purpose, alongside being an elegant little memento.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE ONES AND WHY?
My favorite matches are the ones from @mercerhotel, for no other reason than that the artwork on the box looks like a little James Turrell. My best friend is a big Turrell fan, so I made sure to grab an extra box to bring back to him before returning to LA.
WHEN AND HOW DO YOU LIKE TO ENJOY YOUR MATCHES?
I enjoy my matches as little design objects next to candles and incense. I’ll also like to carry them in my purse, on the off chance a stranger needs a light.
