WHY DO YOU LIKE AND COLLECT MATCHES?
I like to collect matches because they are such an easy and elegant keepsake! I hardly ever use my matches to light anything—instead, I treat my collection as part of my home decor. Every matchbook contains a memory for me, making them feel like meaningful pieces of my interior design.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE ONES AND WHY?
My favorite matches in my collection are probably two different vintage wedding matchbooks. As a history buff, being able to own and hold a piece of the most important day of someone's life is incredibly interesting to me. Although I don't know Carol and Phil or Joyce and Walter personally, I hope both couples enjoyed a lifetime of happiness, and I'm sure August 15th, 1964, was a crazy night!
WHEN AND HOW DO YOU LIKE TO ENJOY YOUR MATCHES?
As an event planner, one of my favorite ways to immortalize a night is through a personalized party favor. Matches are simple, unique, and useful, making them the perfect custom element for any experience. I actually had matches made for the first event I ever planned with Forbes Functions—it's the pink matchbook with June 2nd, 2022, on it! Being able to keep a tangible reminder of the very foundation of Forbes Functions is so special to me.
