WHY DO YOU LIKE AND COLLECT MATCHES?
I love the nostalgia that matchboxes bring me. Each one is connected to a memory or a time in my life. It’s such a small little thing that can fit in your pocket, but to me they carry more weight than some of the biggest possessions I have.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE ONES AND WHY?
My collection is pretty small at the moment, but my favorites are the book from Le Taj that my partner brought me back from his trip to Montreal, and the @boy__smells matchbox which was the first purchase I made when I signed the lease on my very first apartment.
WHEN AND HOW DO YOU LIKE TO ENJOY YOUR MATCHES?
I’ve recently been getting into painting matchboxes and matchbooks. I would love to build my collection that way, and give them as gifts to the people who are special to me. As for my current collection, it’s hard for me to actually use these matches because they’re so special, so I keep a huge box of matches in my desk just for lighting purposes. For now my matchbooks live on my windowsill, slowly getting sun-bleached (which makes me love them even more).
