WHY DO YOU LIKE AND COLLECT MATCHES?
I love to collect matches as a way to remember places! It’s so fun to look back at all the places I ate or drank at and the memories that come with that. Currently more than half of my collection is in storage but I still kept a bag full with me. I like having them around!
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE ONES AND WHY?
My favorite are the ones I gathered on my honeymoon. My husband and I did a month long trip around France and Italy and I collected as many as I could from that trip. My favorite is probably from a members only speakeasy in Rome that a friend of mine sneaked me into. It was the coolest place. Very old school, you could smoke inside, so matchbooks were everywhere. It only had a handful of seating so we didn’t stay long but I had the best cocktail of my life so I made sure to grab a matchbook before leaving. I’ll never forget that place!
WHEN AND HOW DO YOU LIKE TO ENJOY YOUR MATCHES?
The matchbooks are normally scattered around my home in different containers. I have these beautiful gold bowls I got for my wedding that are displayed around the house and always with a candle close by. They are a great conversation starter so I have my biggest bowl of them usually on the coffee table. I don’t normally use them though unless I have more than one matchbook. Mostly because I don’t know if I’ll visit those places again!
