WHY DO YOU LIKE AND COLLECT MATCHES?
Matches remind me of that special moment I spent at a restaurant, hotel or bar — they take me places without even leaving home. They also spark enlightening conversations between friends who come home take a match, light a cigarette and talk about la vie. Matches also bring me peace and harmony — as I burn sage or palo santo. These powerful aromas can focus our attention, unify our senses, and quiet the mind. They also have a heavenly presence keeping energies grounded, providing an uplifting scent that raises your vibration.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE ONES AND WHY?
I have a couple and they are both related to food, of course. First is my @santambroeus matchbox because it reminds me of when I was living in New York, when I used to spend a lot of time there eating cacio & pepe — oh, and their breakfasts! The second is my @septimeparis matches, they are my go-to restaurant/natural wine bar/patisserie in Paris. These matches remind me of such wonderful times.
WHEN AND HOW DO YOU LIKE TO ENJOY YOUR MATCHES?
My matches stick together next to the art and travel books and mezcal — in other words, the good stuff. When I host a dinner at home, the matches always come out: to light candles, smudge sticks or cigarettes.
