WHY DO YOU LIKE AND COLLECT MATCHES?
I love matches because they are kind of old school. They are like album covers of restaurants, they say it all. When you look at a matchbook you understand the essence of the place from its graphics, color palette or even the size of it. They are pretty cool, especially the long long ones. Sometimes I bring matches from my travels and they become my little time capsules reminding me of all the wonderful experiences I've had while traveling. They're not just decorative elements in my home, they're little tokens of my memories that I can hold onto.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE ONES AND WHY?
One of my favorites is a matchbook from @ledivenyc in NYC. I’m a regular with dirty martinis and french fries at 5 PM sundays. When there are the french, there are the matches on the table. This particular one has a distinct proportion and quantity so you usually need more than one on the table. They are hard to not recognize.
WHEN AND HOW DO YOU LIKE TO ENJOY YOUR MATCHES?
I could easily say candles here but don’t tell my mom I enjoy matches with my very occasional ciggies. I don't carry lighters ever or really smoke, but if there are matches on the table I like to play. Like you can casually make fire, that’s cool.
