WHY DO YOU LIKE AND COLLECT MATCHES?
I like to remember the fun restaurants, bars, and hotels I visit while traveling—matches from these locations are special because they're not something you can just buy, and they represent all of the amazing spots I've had the opportunity to visit as an adult.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE ONES AND WHY?
I found a vintage matchbook from @theplazahotel in New York City at a flea market earlier this year, and that's definitely a special one as I don't have a current Plaza matchbook (if they even make them!). I also love all of the matchbooks I collected during my time living in D.C., some of my favorites are from @martinstavern and @lediplomatedc. Since I don't live there anymore, they're a nice reminder of my hometown.
WHEN AND HOW DO YOU LIKE TO ENJOY YOUR MATCHES?
I usually only like to use my matchbooks if I have duplicates on hand—otherwise, they purely serve as a collector's item for me! I keep most of them in a large acrylic box on my built-ins; since the box is see-through I can always admire a few favorites while in my living room! I keep more in a little bowl on my coffee table (I change up the dishes I use fairly often!), where they add an instant pop of color.
