WHY DO YOU LIKE AND COLLECT MATCHES?
To me, matches represent a bygone era. In the media we often see the romanticization of smoking—the mysterious woman taking a smoke break in an alley, or the alluring man in the corner of a bar. Matches were a way to start the conversation, but we don’t use them much anymore. I like imagining the story behind each matchbox.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE ONES AND WHY?
The appeal of collecting matches is that each one tells a different story. I couldn’t really pick just a few favourites, as every memory has impacted me in different ways. Just like the matchboxes hold images of different eras, each one I collect has held a piece of that moment in my life.
WHEN AND HOW DO YOU LIKE TO ENJOY YOUR MATCHES?
The unfortunate thing about matches is they always seem to disappear right when you need them. Collecting matches lets me enjoy them in retrospect. Oh, what a match!
