WHY DO YOU LIKE AND COLLECT MATCHES?
They are a small token of something, from a place and time in your life. It’s a miniature version of something that can mean a lot to you. My collection is small now, but I’m certainly working on it. The special matchboxes reveal themselves throughout our personal experiences.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE ONES AND WHY?
I have this one from @goodluckbarla, formerly in Los Feliz, that I grabbed about two years ago on a night out for a friend’s birthday. The bar recently closed to build a minimal or something, and was considered quite a haunt of LA. It’s sad to see that history gone, and maybe I’m sappy because I saw the Tarantino movie, but LA really does have this magic about it, and Good Luck was one of the places that had it. I’m glad to have a small piece of it. I also found this vintage @gucci matchbook online and had to have it. It sits in this little shell dish on display and I always enjoy looking at it and the house’s signature web pattern.
WHEN AND HOW DO YOU LIKE TO ENJOY YOUR MATCHES?
Right now I’m enjoying my matches with this delicious @boy__smells candle called Ambrosia, and another candle called Summer in Italy from @catbirdnyc. I like to sit in my living room with a book, and have an Aperol Spritz, candle lit, and pretend I’m on vacation.
