WHY DO YOU LIKE AND COLLECT MATCHES?
I love vintage maps, old bird cages, binoculars, dusty books and vintage magazines. My grandpa and I compare collections of these things. Matches are little objects that remind me of old fragmented moments in life and I like to collect them and string them together into something that feels whole. I brought my matches collection from New York to Paris when I only planned to visit for a summer and ended up never leaving.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE ONES AND WHY?
I love maximalism so my favorites are the massive elephant ones in a red box. I definitely overpaid for these at a gift shop in Cape Cod near my parent’s house but I don’t care, I love how huge they are. All of the others are loved equally.
WHEN AND HOW DO YOU LIKE TO ENJOY YOUR MATCHES?
I love an audience and like to bring some matches in my pockets and take them out when it’s unexpected because I feel cool. Other than that I won’t let anyone use them and I really don’t care too much about candles.
