WHY DO YOU LIKE AND COLLECT MATCHES?

Matches are aesthetically pleasing free souvenirs from places I’ve been with people I love. They carry sparks of energy from their points of origin, reminding me of favorite restaurants, stores, shared meals, and conversations.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE ONES AND WHY?

My favorites are from @kismetlosangeles where my best friends and I shared a special lunch to celebrate @verderamet's wedding engagement. I held onto them as a keepsake for a long time but recently parted with them, when I tucked them into the ribbon of her birthday present. I also cherish my matches from Vins Des Pyrénées, a favorite old restaurant in Paris that I used to frequent when I studied abroad.

WHEN AND HOW DO YOU LIKE TO ENJOY YOUR MATCHES?

It’s fun to pair playful matches with items around my apartment. They’re like little works of art. But most of all, I love thoughtfully incorporating matchbooks into gifts. Especially if the present happens to be a @fredericmalle or @manufacturededigoin candle, palo santo from @loveadorned, or @astierdevillatte incense, including matches from a memory you share is a great way to make the gesture more personal.
