WHY DO YOU LIKE AND COLLECT MATCHES?
Matches represent for me moments of discovery and nostalgia, a rare blend of new and old. I love vintage shopping for the same reasons and I am having so much fun being on this journey of matchbook collecting.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE ONES AND WHY?
My favorite has to be this handmade ceramic matchbook from a London designer. I was meeting my boyfriend at a Christmas market and little did I know he had already bought it. I instantly loved the artist’s work and was about to buy a matchbook, literally handing her my credit card, and she gave my boyfriend a look and he sighed and said it was supposed to be a surprise gift haha. Other favorites are tied to memories of laughing at late night dinners with family, restaurants where I made new friends, and moments of discovery I now get to cherish through my matchbook collection.
WHEN AND HOW DO YOU LIKE TO ENJOY YOUR MATCHES?
I keep them as decor around my bedroom and never actually use them to light candles. I hope as I build my collection I can swap with friends and exchange stories of how we came to possess the matchbooks.
I did though make custom matchbooks for my birthday party to give to my friends as a party favor and had some left over so when friends come over they pick up a set!
