WHY DO YOU LIKE AND COLLECT MATCHES?
In a world of QR codes and e-tickets, matchboxes are one of the few tangible things left which you can keep as a memento. Often, I won’t even remember picking them up. A week or two later I’ll find them in my coat pocket or the bottom of my handbag; a spontaneous reminder of a bar, club or hotel I’ve been to, or a person I’ve taken them off.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE ONES AND WHY?
I have a box of @versace matches which came with the invitation to their SS23 show. The box is violet (my namesake color) and the matches are black with fuchsia tips. I love the way they embody the bold, ultra-glam, ‘90s feel of the brand. They’re also a memory of my first fashion week in Milan. I always keep a box of @smokingjacket.london matches on me, the candy stripe pattern is so chic.
WHEN AND HOW DO YOU LIKE TO ENJOY YOUR MATCHES?
Mostly when smoking. Aesthetically, I much prefer them to plastic lighters, and nothing beats lighting a match; there's a real sense of coolness to it.
