WHY DO YOU LIKE AND COLLECT MATCHES?
It came about naturally—from a young age, I’d hold onto anything that reminded me of the places I love most. It’s like a postcard, but more natural… more authentic. They’re places I come back to, time and time again—and when I return, it’s almost like I never left. I find myself quite attached to places—but I don’t like to stay stagnant for long. Maybe a marketing tactic for a restaurant, but matches have always been a memento for my memory—where I met a friend for the first time, a first date spot, the setting of a significant birthday, etc…
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE ONES AND WHY?
Matchbooks are a reminder of the places where we cheers—and cheers to. My favorites are anything from Paris from when I lived there for 6 months last year—I cherish anything that reminds me of the Parisian streets, lifestyle, fashion (and of course, @hotelcostes' Pisco Sour). As I get older, some spots that I have matchbooks from, such as @21club, have since closed, but they’re iconic locations that stand in my mind forever. Other favorites represent days @lesirenuse & @ivyrestaurants—and nights @loulourestaurants & @matignonparisofficiel.
WHEN AND HOW DO YOU LIKE TO ENJOY YOUR MATCHES?
I like to enjoy my matches where I can see them! Find them in a glass holder, on my walls, in my drawers, and on @tsquaredofficial's Matchbook Store! They’re less for practical purpose, and more of a personal, handheld travelogue.
